Ford Fusion Safety
The new Ford Fusion has been designed and optimised to provide exceptional new standards of protection for its occupants. Its rigid design incorporates a large proportion of high strength steel, and the occupant cell is surrounded by energy absorbing crash zones designed to minimise the impact forces.

Structural Integrity
The Fusion's rigid design incorporates a large proportion of high strength steel and variable gauge reinforced panel for occupant cell. Structural elements added for additional safety are as under:
The doors are designed to remain closed on impact but open easily afterwards to facilitate rescue or escape.
Diagonal side impact protection beams in the doors are made from super-high strength steel, to withstand intrusion from vehicles and foreign objects.
The brake pedal is designed to decouple from its mounting in case of a severe impact, reducing the risk of lower leg injuries.
GEM
The Generic Electronic Module (GEM) with its advanced technology functions as the brain of the Fusion and controls several functions like central locking, windscreen defogger, warning functions, engine diagnostics and much more.
ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD
Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) determines the load condition on the front and rear axles and makes differentiated adjustments to the braking pressures. ABS also allows the driver to swerve around an obstacle without having to release the brakes. With ABS the driver is in full control always.
